| Biography – Ted J. Clutter
Photographer
and journalist Ted J. Clutter offers quality images of Industry,
Nature and Places through his stock image source, ArtComPhoto.
An accomplished magazine journalist and photographer, Ted's work
on natural resources, industrial, and energy topics has appeared
in a number of regional, national and international publications
since 1979 (see Image Buyers). His work
is represented by Photo
Researchers, Inc., a major rights-managed photo agency in New
York City.
Photography has been an integral
part of Ted's life, from working for his hometown newspaper during
high school to managing photography and publications for scientific
research and non-profit associations. While earning his degrees
at the University of Idaho, he pursued magazine photojournalism
and local industry assignments. His success led to a career in public
relations, where he applied his photography and writing skills to
newsletters and magazine production.
Ted earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography,
and a Master of Science degree in Industrial Communications, at
the University of Idaho’s College of Mines & Earth Resources
(Moscow, ID). His studies also included work at Brooks Institute
of Photography (Santa Barbara. CA).
From 1985 to 1990, Ted served as Information Officer
for the Virginia Center for Coal & Energy Research, a legislative
liaison office at Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University
(Blacksburg, VA), where he managed public affairs, information transfer,
and publications (newsletters, directories, reports, and a peer-reviewed
research journal).
From 1990 to 1997, Ted served as Director of Communications
for the Pennsylvania Coal Association (PCA - Harrisburg, PA), where
he managed news media and constituent relations, assisted in legislative
and regulatory lobbying efforts, and produced association publications
(newsletters and data books).
From 1997 to 2006, Ted served as Executive Director
of the Geothermal Resources Council (GRC - Davis, CA), where he
managed a $600,000 annual budget; acted as government contracts
officer (U.S. Department of Energy); directed outreach (bi-monthly
magazine, workshop brochures, website, technical research proceedings,
and advertising); interfaced with companies, government agencies,
educational institutions, and GRC membership; organized events (Annual
Meeting and technical workshops); and lobbied at the state and federal
levels to enhance the future of the geothermal industry.
